Hello everyone!

My name is Cecilia and I am a PhD researcher at the University of Sussex, UK. My research focuses on the identification of stateless asylum seekers in Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. It aims to shed light on the multiple challenges faced by stateless persons applying for international protection in Europe and to propose some avenues for improvement.

For the purpose of my research, I am interviewing stateless persons/persons at risk of statelessness who have gone through the asylum procedure in the three countries (including persons who are still in the procedure, recognized refugees, persons who have been granted some other form of protection, persons whose asylum application was rejected and have not been granted any form of protection).

If you are stateless/at risk of statelessness and have applied for asylum in Germany, I would love to hear from you! Please get in touch with me at c.manzotti@sussex.ac.uk. I will provide you with additional information about my research and answer any questions you may have, before scheduling an (online) interview at your convenience. Be assured that your responses will be used solely for research purposes and will remain anonymous, if you wish so.

Many thanks for your time!

Best wishes,

Cecilia

Dear Cecilia,

I hope you are doing well.

Thank you for sharing your inquiry on our platform and for your interest in statelessness.

We hope that you will find someone who wants to work with you on that subject.

We hope you have a nice day.

Best wishes,

Victoria Bukalo & the team.

Dear Victoria,

Many thanks to you and the rest of the Statefree team for your reply and for offering me the chance to post my inquiry on your platform.

Unfortunately, nobody has reached out to me yet. If you have any suggestions on how to recruit stateless/at risk of statelessness persons who have applied for asylum in Germany, they are more than welcome!

Thank you!

Best wishes,

Cecilia

Hello @Aleksejs and @Nina Murray,

I hope this message finds you both in good spirits.

@Aleksejs, I'm reaching out to inquire if you might know someone from Switzerland who is stateless and has sought asylum. If you do, we would be incredibly grateful if you could introduce them to Cecillia Manzotti (c.manzotti@sussex.ac.uk). Her work is focused on supporting individuals in similar situations, and your connection could make a real difference.

@Nina Murray, Hello I'm Victoria, the Office Manager for the Statefree team. I'm here to support our community in any way I can. I was wondering if you might have come across or know of any stateless individuals from Italy who have applied for asylum. If this rings a bell, we would be overjoyed if you could facilitate a connection between them and Cecillia Manzotti. Her contact is c.manzotti@sussex.ac.uk.

I hope you both are having a wonderful day.

Warmest regards,

Victoria
