[Deutsch] Heute wurde im Kabinett der aktuelle Entwurf verabschiedet. Obwohl es in der Verbändebeteiligung vom BMI hieß, man möchte sicherstellen, dass vor allem vulnerable Gruppen berücksichtigt werden, ist im neuen Entwurf kein Wort zu Staatenlosigkeit.
Unser Statement zum finalen Gesetzesentwurf des Staatsangehörigkeitsgesetz:
Sollte es bei diesem Entwurf bleiben, wird
- Staatenlosigkeit in Deutschland weiter steigen, und
- die gleichberechtigte Einbürgerung für staatenlose Personen unmöglich gemacht.
Noch ist das Gesetz nicht vollständig beschlossen, aber viel Zeit für Veränderung bleibt nicht mehr.
Im nächsten Schritt erfolgt das parlamentarische Verfahren. Hier wird das Gesetz Innerhalb von drei Lesungen im Bundestag diskutiert - und potentiell verbessert - werden.
Wir arbeiten dementsprechend weiter daran unsere Forderungen und ihre Notwendigkeit and die Regierung zu kommunizieren und werden im laufenden Prozess regelmäßig Updates zum Gesetzgebungsverfahren teilen.

[English] Today, the cabinet approved the current draft of the German Nationality act. Although the Federal Ministry of the Interior communicated in the consultation process that it wanted to ensure that especially vulnerable groups were taken into account, there is not a word about statelessness in the new draft.
Our statement on the final draft of the Nationality Act:
If the draft remains unchanged, the following will continue to happen:
- statelessness in Germany will continue to rise, and
- equal naturalisation for stateless persons will be made impossible.
The law has not yet been fully passed, but there is not much time left for change.
The next step is the parliamentary procedure. Here, the law will be discussed - and potentially improved - within three readings in the Bundestag (Parliament)
Accordingly, we will continue to advocate for the stateless people's right to naturalisation and will share regular updates on the legislative process as it unfolds.
