Dear all,
we would like to share a participatory research project with you — maybe some of you might be interested in taking part :)

Paid Research Opportunity: University College London is looking for stateless people who have either participated or organised peer/community spaces

More information is provided about the study and how to get involved below:

Research topic: Exploring the impact of peer spaces on the mental wellbeing of people affected by statelessness

What is a peer space?

A peer space is any kind of group or activity where you’ve connected with others with experiences of statelessness. Examples of peer spaces are spaces for campaigning, fundraising, meeting community, mental wellbeing, education or research.

Who can take part?

You must:

  • Be over the age of 18.
  • Have lived experience of statelessness.
  • Have either participated in or helped to organise or deliver a peer space before.

About the research

Research shows that peer spaces are valuable in supporting positive mental health for people affected by statelessness. We do not know much about the types of spaces, or what parts of these spaces most benefit people’s wellbeing. This project aims to find out by interviewing people affected by statelessness internationally who are (or have been) involved in peer spaces of any type.

Why take part?

  • Participants will receive a £20 voucher for shop of their choice as a thank you for their time.
  • Share your experience to improve peer space for others.
  • Contribute to research that could influence how these spaces are supported in the future.
  • Chance to ensure your voice is heard and to make sure those with lived experience shape future policy decisions.

What’s involved?

A one-to-one interview will be carried out with the study researcher, which will last for about 60-90 minutes. The interview will focus on your experiences of peer spaces, and you will not be asked to talk about your personal history experiences of statelessness unless you would like to talk about them. Example questions might include: What positive experiences have you had taking part in peer spaces? What changes to these spaces would you like to see?

Take part!
