Dear Statefree-Community,
we are four Master's students at the University of Hamburg, majoring in Criminology and Sociology. As part of a research project with the working title: “Experiences of Statelessness Among Palestinians in Germany,” we are investigating the experiences of individuals of Palestinian origin living in Germany regarding statelessness.
With our study we hope to contribute to a scientific topic that is still significantly underrepresented in society as well as in academia and, in our opinion, deserves more attention.
For our study, we are looking for interview partners who live in Germany and are affected by statelessness due to their Palestinian origin.
Who we are looking for
We are interested in perspectives from people who are officially considered 'stateless' (XXA) as well as from people whose nationality is regarded as 'unresolved' (XXX) by the German authorities.
- If you are living in Hamburg or Berlin we conduct face-to-face interviews.
- If you are living further away, we would conduct the interviews via video-calls.
What to expect
In the interviews, we will ask a variety of open-ended questions, where we generally invite you to share anything that you find relevant and important. The interviews will be recorded for later analysis.
- The interview will take 1-2 hours
If you are interested, we will share the results with you upon the completion of the research project.
Respecting your personal boundaries
We understand that our research topic and the questions we would like to ask can be very personal and sensitive. You have the option to decline to answer specific questions or to terminate the interview at any time.
Of course, we will treat the interview material with strict confidentiality and anonymity in our study. Before conducting the interview, we will ask you for your consent to use the interview material for our research purposes. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
