The Global Statelessness Movement is a global community of stateless persons, activists, and allied organisations dedicated to the eradication of statelessness, equal nationality rights, and the human rights of stateless persons. We envision a world in which universal human rights - including the right to a nationality - are respected and upheld for all human beings. Hello everyone!I am really excited to announce that my first draft of my graduation project, NON-NATION, a virtual world dedicated to stateless people and people who support stateless rights is ready to debut. I would love to invite everyone for a very casual presentation (45 min) of the virtual space, its possibilities and how it might grow.Together we will add a 3D object as an example of how the space can be customised. I will guide you through how to do this. You can also think about what you might want in a place dedicated to supporting stateless rights. It can be very simple or more complex (a photo of someone who inspires you or a place where lawyers can volunteer legal advice for example).Please let me know if you would be interested in joining and your availability for the next 2 weeks, so I can find the most suitable date.I would really value your input. Explaining why you don’t have a nationality can be extremely hard when two people don’t share the same language. Thinking of stateless people from Ukraine who might be on their way to seek protection in EU countries, we started a list that translates the term into different languages. We finally made it: The Statefree Community is live!  The first time I publicly shared the idea of this forum was at an online conference from the European Network on Statelessness in September 2020. A lot has happened since then:  We formed a founding team of eight people  We were joined by incredible allies who supported us with the technical development, promotion and funding of this forum  We registered Statefree as an organization  And now: we’re finally able to talk, share and discuss with all of YOU! Thank you for being here and for joining this Community.  Getting to this day was a long journey, but we hope it’s only the beginning of a way longer story of collaboration and communication in the sphere of statelessness  → Browse through the forum, engage in the conversation and get in touch with us, whenever you have questions! 

Hopping on here to share the good news that the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) committed to providing greater protections for stateless persons within the US. In the DHS’ words, the government “will adopt a definition of statelessness for immigration purposes and build a process for making statelessness determinations” and “will work to identify and catalogue barriers to legally available immigration relief and benefits faced by stateless persons.” You can read the full DHS press release here. This is a huge step for the United States, as the country does not currently have any legal frameworks, definitions, or pathways to relief for stateless persons.
