Liebe Community, ich arbeite als Journalistin für den ORF Österreichischen Rundfunk in Wien. Für die Online-Nachrichtenplattformen ORF.at und ORF Topos schreibe ich einen Artikel über die Situation von staatenlosen Menschen in Österreich. Dazu möchte ich ein gefilmtes Interview mit einer betroffenen Person führen, die über ihre Erfahrungen spricht. Kurz zum Ablauf: Idealerweise führen wir das Interview über Zoom und die Person nimmt sich selbst währenddessen mit dem Handy auf und schickt mir das Video danach zu, der Beitrag wird dann in den Artikel eingefügt.  Das Interview müssten wir bis zum 26.1 führen, Dauer maximal 30 Minuten. Hi everyone, Statefree’s partner Apatride Network is still looking to interview more stateless people, refugees and other forcibly displaced people about their (our) experiences in accessing banking and other financial services. The interviews are anonymous and very simple. We will use the valuable information of these experiences in our cooperation with several international law firms, to draft a short report that we will in turn use to contact good and bad practices financial actors. My name is Taha Ezam. I studied chemical engineering in Iran, but because of the problems that existed for the Baha'is, I had to leave Iran with my mother without anything.As of 2015, my mother and I are religious refugees awaiting resettlement .During the long resettlement process, refugees face many challenges to live in Turkey, such as finding a good job, education, citizenship rights, etc.

Hallo! Ich besitze keine Staatsbürgerschaft. Weil ich meine Ethnie durchmischt ist, soll ich mich zwecks Identitätsklärung an unterschiedliche Botschaften (Geburtsort der Mutter, Staatsangehörigkeit Vater, Großeltern Geburtsland etc) wenden. Für mich ist es aufgrund meiner Volkszugehörigkeit und entsprechender Gruppenverfolgung des Landes A nicht möglich die Landesvertretung von Land A zu betreten. Für einen Identitätsnachweis brauche ich aber einen Bescheid dieser bestimmten Botschaft. Meine Rechtsberatung sieht es als zumutbar an, wenn ich mich mehrfach um eine Staatsangehörigkeit dieses Landes bemühe. Ich will aber aus humanitären Gründen nicht und habe keinerlei Verbindung zu dem Land. Muss ich eine andere Staatsangehörigkeit annehmen, wenn ich nicht in den Ländern geboren wurde? Gibt es andere Wege die fehlende Staatsangehörigkeit nicht beweisen zu müssen? Ich bin verzweifelt.

Guten Abend, Ich bin neu hier und doch kommt es mir vor, als ob ich die hier angesprochenen Themen rund um die Staatenlosigkeit in Deutschland längst kennen würde. Dabei wusste ich seither wenig vom Umfang des Problems. Bisher kannte ich nur eine einzige betroffene Familie mit drei Kindern, an die die „Staatenlosigkeit durch die Mutter vererbt“ wurde. Vier Staaten haben eine eventuell bestehende Staatsangehörigkeit der Kinder verneint. Trotzdem geht die zuständige Ausländerbehörde immer noch von ungeklärter Staatsangehörigkeit aus. Rührt aber selbst keinen Finger, um diesen Zustand zu beenden, obwohl sie eigentlich laut Handbuch über den Schutz staatenloser Personen gemäß dem Übereinkommen von 1954 über die Rechtsstellung staatenloser Personen, verpflichtet wäre. Von anderen im Handbuch genannten Kriterien ganz abgesehen. Unterstützung des Antragstellers, Fehlanzeige. Hi so, I’m a student in Germany, came from Gaza, Palestine to Germany via a student visa and I’m still in my 3rd semester but I have a student job and pay “student taxes” and so on. Does the XXX on my residence permit mean whatever I do and however long I stay in Germany despite having a degree from Germany and working and paying taxes and so on I will never get “naturalised” into the country? I came here for the LGBT rights and to feel safe and doing my best to naturalise  but now I have to worry about other stuff for the rest of my life? :’)

Hello, I recently met someone who had to flee from their abusive home in an Eastern European country…  and had to leave all documents behind bc they were taken from them by the abusive parent… Reapplying for a new passport at the embassy is too dangerous bc of fear of the parent finding them.   The person’s application for asylum in another European country was rejected. So they now live in Germany in constant fear of being deported. Meanwhile getting a job in order to get a residence permit as work migrant  is nearly impossible without documents.     Any advice how to safely get documented again / get a legal status in Germany?

Hi,  I am stateless from Kuwait. I applied for asylum in the Netherlands almost a year ago with my wife (she was pregnant) and we voluntarily returned to Kuwait before any decision was issued in the asylum case. Can I apply for asylum again in Another country has knowledge of the issue of stateless people??

hello guys, first of all I would like to thank you guys for publishing such a great site. I have been recognized as a stateless person for almost 2 years. Before that, I was registered as an Unresolved Citizen with the authorities. Now to my problem, I wanted to apply for a registration certificate (Meldebescheinigung) at the German citizens' office, since the registration certificate contains the citizenship, I asked the employee to change this from uncleared to stateless and then presented my travel document for stateless persons. Since the employee was not familiar with this, he asked a supervisor. She didn't want to change it, as other documents have to be presented to prove this. It didn't make any sense to me at all. When asked what documents I have to present, she got angry and expelled me from the building. Is it normal to be treated as if you were a second class person just because you are stateless? Ich bin Nicole Großmann und bin sowie mein Vater in Deutschland geboren. Mein Opa kam im zweiten Weltkrieg als Kriegsgefangener von Montenegro nach Deutschland und hat dann eine Deutsche Frau geheiratet und sein restliches Leben in Deutschland verbracht, genauso wie mein Vater und ich. Wir sind hier zur Schule gegangen, haben die Ausbildung abgeschlossen und immer gearbeitet. Leider wurden mein Vater und ich nie in Montenegro registriert, somit erhalten wir seit mehreren Jahren, seit Montenegro und Serbien sich getrennt haben keinen Ausweis mehr. Uns ist es nicht möglich, noch im Nachhinein dort registrieren zu lassen, da wir keine Verwandten haben, die helfen könnten und Geld für einen Anwalt haben wir auch nicht. Selbst reisen können wir ohne gültigen Ausweis ja nicht. Die Auslandsbehörde hier in Mülheim will nicht helfen wegen der Einbürgerung. I’m lucky enough to have been born here and since carrying a german passport, as well as being the first one in my family to have access to higher education (or any education past 9th grade really).  I’m trying my best in recognizing the many privileges my life has given me while still keeping in mind that all these things are lucky coincidenes at best*, which is why I feel like I should finally put them to use. *I guess my identity consists of a state of being in-between regarding many different aspects of my life, and I hope that gives me enough insight and personal experience on one hand, as well as enough access to existing opressive structures to be able to change them eventually. Feel free to contact me!
